The International PCD Physiotherapy Network (IPCDPN) was established during the 2017 BEAT-PCD training school. As PCD is a rare condition, the potential benefit and importance of being able to connect with other physiotherapists and respiratory therapists working with people with PCD was readily recognised.
IPCDPN has members all over the world, some who work exclusively with people with PCD and some who may only have a single PCD patient on their caseload. To facilitate communication and networking between its members, IPCDPN uses the Basecamp platform. Through this platform, IPCDPN members are able to get to know each other, discuss clinical queries and share knowledge about all things relating to physiotherapy in PCD. Membership is free, and if you would like to join please email Lynne Scholfield.
IPCDPN has also been successfully hosting webinars since 2020. The webinars focus on topics which are highly relevant to PCD physiotherapy, such as supporting physiotherapy in patients with PCD during Covid-19, evidence-based management of the upper airways in PCD and improving treatment adherence. The live webinars are recorded and available after the event, with links uploaded on Basecamp. IPCDPN membership is not required to attend the webinars.
You can follow the network on Twitter @PcdPhysio and use #IPCDPN in any relevant tweets. If you would like to be involved with the IPCDPN in any way, from ideas for future webinars to helping to run the network, we would love to hear from you, please get in touch.
