The meeting will be held in Poznan: 26 – 29 March 2019.
Venue: Mercure Poznan Centrum hotel
There is a lot of detail, so please read to the end, and take action.
The combined format of Conference and Training School has proved universally popular over the last two years. We therefore plan a similar format with some workshops and talks shared whilst others will be aimed primarily at either Early Career or Senior Researchers / Clinicians. In addition to plenary talks, a substantial amount of time has been reserved for oral presentations by young and senior members of BEAT-PCD; these talks will be selected from the submitted abstracts (research data, BEAT-PCD project updates and proposals, STSMs). An outline of the programme is attached to help you plan your travels; more detailed preliminary programmes will be circulated in the near future. The Conference programme will be finalised upon the selection of the oral presentations. You are therefore invited to submit your abstract, register for the meeting and book your hotel room ASAP!
Registration and Abstract submission deadline: 15 January 2019
Please note we had to close registration early last year due to over-subscription, so please book early!
Presentations from project groups: if you have a BEAT-PCD project which has started or is in the planning stages, we would love you to give a short presentation. Please send a brief outline and nominate a presenter to Bruna Rubbo (B.Rubbo@soton.ac.uk)
Research Abstracts:
Send your abstract submissions directly to Bruna Rubbo (B.Rubbo@soton.ac.uk) and Myrona Goutaki (myrofora.goutaki@ispm.unibe.ch) by 15 January. The Conference and Training School committee will then select submissions for oral presentations sessions and poster discussion.
Do not forget to register for the Conference before submitting an abstract. Based on previous Conferences, all relevant abstracts have been accepted and therefore there is a good chance you will have the opportunity to present your work. In previous years we have had to close registration early due to over-subscription and we will not be able to accommodate those who have their abstracts accepted but have not registered for the Conference. So please do register (free) and if for any reason, at a later date, you are no longer able to attend, contact Lynn Reeves (L.E.Reeves@soton.ac.uk) as soon as possible to cancel your registration and open up a spot for someone on the waiting list.
This year, for abstracts selected as posters, authors will have the opportunity to present them briefly (strict 2 minute presentation followed by 3 minutes of discussions) in the main conference hall. Please note that we will be following the 2018 ERS ‘Poster Discussion’ format and presenters must adhere to their allocated time.
Please remember to tick the correct option (Yes/No) on the abstract template to indicate whether you give permission for your abstract to be published in the Open Access report of the Conference/ Training School Proceedings.
We strongly encourage you all, especially early career researchers (ECRs) of the BEAT-PCD network, to submit your work and take advantage of the opportunity to give an oral presentation to an audience interested in your field, as this is relatively rare for trainees at other conferences. We recommend that ECRs submit their abstracts early and indicate on registration if they will be requesting reimbursement. At all past Conferences we have been able to provide reimbursement to all trainees that submitted an abstract. Best presentations and posters will be awarded prizes at the meeting.
